* The liquid needed for reducing benzodiazepines is diazepam syrup 2mg in 5ml.  You will also need a 1ml syringe (as used for insulin by diabetics)

Notes

All benzodiazepines (and the 'Z' drugs listed) act similarly but also differ, particularly in the length of time they remain in the blood. The dosage required to produce similar effects can vary greatly.

This table shows what dose of other drugs is needed to give roughly the same effect as 5mg of diazepam. This is useful information for people changing to diazepam as an aid to coming off.

Other information in the table is the half life of the substance - a measure of how long it remains active. Some benzos are changed by the human system into another active compound or active metabolite. This usually has a longer half life as shown in the right-hand column. The benzos with short half lives tend to be used as sleeping pills and those with longer half lives as tranquillisers.
